Our Team

Dr. Hickingbottom is an expert in improving students' metacognitive and writing skills through Socratic Seminars. She is a native of Natchez, MS, who currently resides in Louisiana. She is a public servant with 14 years of instructional experience as a teacher, Literacy Coach, and Magnet Site Coordinator in grades K-12. As a teacher, she was awarded the prestigious title of Teacher of the Year in 2019. Throughout her career, she worked with students in rural and urban areas with diverse backgrounds in Mississippi, Texas, and Louisiana. As a learner, she earned a Bachelor's degree in 2010, a Master’s degree in 2011, an Educational Specialist degree in 2016 from Alcorn State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Louisiana State University in 2024. She loves serving her community and has been a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. since 2008. She is passionate about instilling education into the youth and providing life skills to enable them to become diverse global learners.
